Youth Travel in Portugal: Intra_Rail Card

Everyone is aware that Portugal is a hot spot for folks looking for value, that is, inexpensive sophistication in a travel destination. But did you know that youth, between 12 and 30 (a wide definition for sure), can ride the rails and sleep in hostels with the Intra_Rail Card for very little money?

You can spend ten days traveling in trains around a quarter of the country (Portugal is split into four zones, and you can choose any one zone) while staying the night in shared hostel rooms for a mere 159 € with a Youth Card, or 185 € without. A three-day, two night card, called the Intra_Rail xplore card, can be had for much less.

Take a look at the Zones and Hostels available, then check our Portugal Rail Map and start planning that trip.

(For you golden oldies: Did you know that Lisbon was rated as one of the most affordable places to stay in Europe according to trivago Hotel Price Index (PDF)?
