The Algarve isn’t all high rise resorts you know.
I’m always on the lookout for unusual places to spend the night. Why spend any more time in a box you overpay for when you don’t have to?
Near the Algarve town of Silves you’ll find the Ecolodge Brejeira, where you can spend the night in a yurt or a fire van.
How did I find the Ecolodge? It’s one of the Guardian’s favorite glamping places.
And…if you come from October to December, you’ve arrive in medronho picking season. They make a typical liquor out of it a few months later.
Check it out if you vacation more for nature and to learn about local traditions rather than sitting on a beach.
